The women's soccer team opened its season last week with a loss and a tie in two soggy non-conference games.
The Eagles (0-1-1), which added just two freshmen to their squad this year, played two rain-soaked games at Reeves Field.
In the Eagles' first match with Rutgers on Sept. 1, the team scored on themselves in the 10th minute. In the game, which had 28 fouls attributed to the two teams, the Eagles lost 4-1, with the own-goal and a goal off of a penalty kick.
Rutgers (1-1) scored all of their four goals before the Eagles could put one in the net.
The Eagles got on the board with sophomore forward Nadia Tahmassian scoring the lone goal -- one of only seven shots in the game by AU -- in the 76th minute with an 18-yard chip shot assisted by junior Amanda Detterline.
In the Eagles' second game in three days, the team played a physical match against the SUNY-Stony Brook Seawolves (3-0-1), ending in a 1-1 tie after the game went into two overtimes.
Following a Stony Brook goal in the 57th minute, the Eagles bounced back with a goal late in the game by senior forward Ashley Flanigan, assisted by senior midfielder Andrea Arkin.
In the match, which saw 11 offside calls against the Eagles with just one against Stony Brook, AU out-shot the Seawolves, 22-14.
AU goalkeeper Jackie Sierodzinski tallied 11 saves throughout the 120-minute game.
The Eagles' schedule has them playing eight of their first 10 games at home this season. The team will travel Sept. 6 to Mount St. Mary's, and return home Sept. 9 to take on Towson.
