A truck spotted on campus Jan. 29 called on American University President Sylvia Burwell to “PROTECT YOUR JEWISH STUDENTS!”
The screens on the side of the truck read “THREATENED, MARGINALIZED, SHUNNED” and displayed a quote from a Title VI complaint filed against the University which read, “These students have been threatened, marginalized, shunned, and made to feel unwelcome in their dormitories, classrooms, and social spaces throughout the campus…”
The truck’s driver could not say what organization had hired the truck. The Eagle has not independently verified who sponsored the truck or if it is connected to any groups involved in the filing of the complaint.
Burwell notified the community on Oct. 20 of swastikas and “Nazi slogans” found on Jewish residents’ doors in Letts Hall. On Nov. 16, the Department of Performing Arts notified students of a poster that was vandalized with “antisemitic language and symbols.”
