The Eagle is American University's 94-year-old newspaper of record. We reach readers with our website, email newsletter and print edition. It is editorially independent of the university. The Eagle was named Best Less-Than-Daily College Newspaper by the College Media Association in 2017.

  • Our website receives about 50,000 views per month.
  • Our email newsletter reaches about 4,000 subscribers every Friday morning with a 43% average open rate.
  • Our special print editions typically run once per semester with 2,500 copies.

Online advertising

Our website is our newspaper's centerpiece, where we publish 3-5 articles daily during the school year. Payment is due upon initiation of ad run for new advertisers.

  • Leaderboard (728px x 90px): $700 per month
  • Body Rectangle (300px x 250px): $550 per month
  • Skyscraper (160px x 600px): $300 per month

Newsletter

Our email newsletter, launched in August 2017, has over 4,000 subscribers with a 43% average open rate. The industry average open rate is about 18%. It goes out every Friday afternoon with a roundup of stories from the week. By advertising in our newsletter, you will get a clickable banner at the bottom of the weekly email for our readers to learn more about your products or services.

  • 600 x 200 banner: $300 per edition

Print edition advertising

The Eagle typically prints one special edition per semester, adding up to two per calendar year. These print editions typically come out in November and March. 

  • 1/4 Page (5" x 6.8"): $200
  • 1/2 Page (10.5" x 6.8"): $450
  • Full Page (10.5" x 14"): $700
  • Back Page (10.5" x 14"): $750


 Hosts Sara Winick and Sydney Hsu introduce themselves and talk about their favorite TV shows. This episode includes fun facts, recommendations and personal connections.
